Directive 2004/23/CE – A directive regarding the donation, supply and storage of all cells and tissues (excluding organs and blood). Focus on therapeutic human application. Based on philosophy of solidarity for unpaid, voluntary tissue donation.  The parent Directive (2004/23/CE) provides the framework legislation and two technical directives (2006/17/CE and 2006/86/CE)

Regulation 1394/2007/CE – Established the regulatory framework for cells and tissues donated for therapeutic purposes.

Tiss.EU project funded by the European Union to evaluate legislative and regulatory documents in relation to the procurement, storage and transfer of human tissue and cells for research in the European Union.

Council of Europe
Recommendation 4 (2006) – dedicated to scientific research on biological materials.
